Houston Joy of Quilts
A biennial celebration of craft, community, and the enduring art of quilting.
The Exhibition
Houston Joy of Quilts is the signature biennial quilt show of the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston —Texas' oldest and most vibrant quilting community. This juried and judged exhibition brings together hundreds of quilts and textile artworks, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and the enduring beauty of the quilting tradition.
More than an exhibition, Joy of Quilts is a gathering place for the quilting community and beyond. Visitors experience inspiring displays, a curated vendor marketplace, and opportunities to connect with makers, teachers, and enthusiasts who share a passion for the art of quilting.
At its heart, Houston Joy of Quilts reflects our guild's mission: to share the art of quilting and to provide warmth and comfort to those in need.
Proceeds from the show support our outreach efforts, through which members donate hundreds of quilts each year to local charities, hospitals, shelters, and veterans.
Whether you are an experienced quilter, a collector of textile art, or simply someone who appreciates beauty and craftsmanship, Houston Joy of Quilts invites you to be inspired.
2026–2027 Milestone
In 2026–2027, the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston proudly celebrates its Golden Jubilee—50 years of quilting, community, and service.
Founded in 1976 by Karey Bresenhan, also the founder of the world's largest quilt show—the International Quilt Festival, held annually since 1974—the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston has grown into a thriving organization of hundreds of members united by creativity, generosity, and a shared love of quilting. Over five decades, our members have stitched not only beautiful quilts, but also a legacy of giving—donating thousands of quilts to comfort those in need across the Houston community.
The Golden Jubilee is both a celebration and a reflection:
As part of this milestone, Houston Joy of Quilts will feature special exhibits, commemorative projects, and opportunities to recognize the impact of quilting as both an art form and an act of care.
Fifty years. Thousands of quilts. Countless lives touched.
And the story continues—one stitch at a time.
